Check the city record before assuming that completed work means the permit is closed. Gather the approved plans, inspection history and contractor details, then ask the city what reinstatement or closeout process applies.
Find the actual hold
Request the permit record and note the status, missing inspections and any notices. A title report or contractor message may flag an issue, but the authority’s record establishes what needs clarification.
Check who can complete the process
If the original contractor is unavailable, ask about a contractor change as part of the next step. An owner should not assume they can take over every responsibility simply by submitting a form.
Keep the sale or construction schedule realistic
Tell your coordinator about a closing date or construction deadline. Ask for the tasks, dependencies and responsible people. No private permit service can guarantee the city’s inspection outcome or approval date.
