A PRACTICAL STARTING POINT
Before a West Palm Beach business build-out, check the proposed use
By the Liquid Permit team · Updated
Confirm the jurisdiction and proposed use before committing to an opening date. An existing space may still need permit or occupancy review, even when the visible construction seems modest.
Describe the business, not just the finishes
Write down the intended use, the previous use if known, expected changes and whether equipment or building systems will change. Bring existing plans, a survey or landlord information if available.
Build a list of decisions
Ask the appropriate authority and professionals which building, zoning, fire and trade reviews apply. Treat these as questions to resolve for the address, not a universal list of approvals required for every business.
Put drawings and coordination in the quote
Ask who will prepare drawings, answer technical comments and handle administrative follow-up. Design, drafting and required professional signatures or seals should have their own defined scope and fee.
What to have ready
- Address and jurisdiction
- Proposed business use and known previous use
- Existing plans or a simple description of changes
- Owner or landlord contact and desired opening date
You do not need a complete package to ask for help.
